About the Veterinarian

Since a very young age Dr. Jonathan Castro knew that he had a passion for helping animals.  Through volunteer work with the Human Society and working at the office of his long time family veterinarian, it became clear that this was the professional career that he would eventually pursue.  He earned his undergraduate degree at Gettysburg College in biochemistry and molecular biology and then his VMD at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.  Since graduating, he has worked in private practice, as well as providing low cost vaccine and wellness clinics in rural areas and helping assist local authorities in several cases  of animal neglect and abuse, helping rescue them from awful  conditions to get the medical care they needed.

Dr. Castro first began doing house calls a few times a week at his very first job.  After working for the first 7 years at a traditional veterinary hospital setting, he chose to start a mobile veterinary service and has been in mobile practice ever since. Dr. Castro and his family reside in Cary, NC. Outside of work, he enjoys travel, concerts, hiking and spending time outdoors, swimming, biking and playing the drums. Through his passion and commitment Dr. Castro continues to make a significant impact on the lives of pets and their pet parents and hopes to serve as an inspiration to others wishing to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
